Method and system for remotely monitoring intoxication

A system for remotely monitoring intoxication of a user, comprising:

• a breath sample acquisition device in communication with a mobile computing device of the user, wherein the breath sample acquisition device is configured to:
• receive a breath sample from a user;
• broadcast a unique signature indicative of the breath sample acquisition device within a time interval proximal in time to receiving the breath sample from the user;
• a processing system onboard at least one of the mobile computing device and the sample acquisition device, wherein the processing system is configured to:
• determine a breath sample signal based on the breath sample received at the breath sample acquisition device;
• generate an authentication signal derived from detection of the unique signature in association with the breath sample from the user;
• generate a verification assessment that validates provision of the breath sample by the user based on the sample signal and the authentication signal;
• and
• generate an intoxication assessment of the user based on the breath sample signal;
• a client application executing on the mobile computing device and associated with the user, wherein the client application is in communication with the processing system, and wherein the client application is configured to transmit the verification assessment and the intoxication assessment to a remote monitoring entity, thereby enabling remote monitoring of the user.
