Abstract
The invention features diagnostic and therapeutic methods and compositions featuring androgen receptor variant proteins and nucleic acid molecules whose expression is increased in androgen related diseases or disorders.
Claims25
A method of detecting an androgen receptor variant 7 (AR-V7) having a nucleic acid sequence comprising SEQ ID NO:
- 1 or a fragment thereof, wherein the fragment comprises a portion of cryptic exon 3, in a human patient suffering from prostate cancer, the method comprising:
- a. obtaining a sample from the human patient, wherein the sample comprises mRNA;
- b. contacting the sample with one or more primers or probes, wherein at least one of the primers or probes specifically binds to the portion of cryptic exon 3 of the nucleic acid sequence comprising SEQ ID NO:
- 1 or the fragment thereof, and
- c. detecting the binding of the one or more primers or probes to the portion of cryptic exon 3 of the nucleic acid sequence comprising SEQ ID NO:
- 1 or a fragment thereof in the sample, thereby detecting AR-V7 in the human patient suffering from prostate cancer.
