Abstract
A barrier adhesive composition comprises polyisobutylene resin, hydrophobic nanoparticles and sorbent nanoparticles.
Claims32
A barrier adhesive composition comprising:
- (a) polyisobutylene resin;
- (b) hydrophobic nanoparticles having an average primary or agglomerate particle size diameter of no greater than about 100 nanometers;
- and
- (c) sorbent nanoparticles
- wherein at least 70% of the nanoparticles are present as discrete unagglomerated nanoparticles and the barrier adhesive composition is a pressure sensitive adhesive.

A barrier adhesive composition comprising:
- (a) about 50 to about 75 wt. % polyisobutylene resin having a viscosity average molecular weight of about 300,000 to about 900,000 g/mol,
- (b) about 1 to about 10 wt. % hydrophobic surface modified nanosilica,
- (c) about 1 to about 5 wt. % calcium oxide nanoparticles,
- (d) about 10 to about 25 wt. % tackifier, and
- all relative to the total weight of the composition;
- wherein the barrier adhesive composition is a pressure sensitive adhesive having optical transmittance of at least about 90%.
