Abstract
A preform can be made from two different materials that do not bond together by a bi-injection process, using the same mold. First an outer preform can be fashioned, then an inner preform molded through a center hole in the bottom of the outer preform, and the preforms connected. Inner/outer preform materials can be different, e.g., PET/polyolefin or polyamide, or same, e.g., PET/PET. To prevent mutual bonding during molding of the second, a non-stick coating can be sprayed on a surface portion of the first preform prior to molding the second. Manufacturing order can be either outer/inner, or inner/outer, and the non-stick coating sprayed on the inside/outside of the preform first molded.
Claims19
A pre-form for a liquid dispensing device, comprising:
- an inner layer;
- and
- an outer layer,
- the inner layer connected to the outer layer at a top portion of the pre-form;
- the inner layer connected to the outer layer at a bottom portion of the pre-form,
- the inner layer comprising a protrusion that extends through an opening in a bottom surface of the outer layer through the entire thickness of the outer layer at a position of the opening and beyond the bottom surface of the outer layer, the protrusion flattened so as to provide a connection between the inner layer and the outer layer, the connection being not air tight, the flattened portion of the protrusion having a larger diameter than any diameter of the opening,
- wherein the outer layer includes an air inlet or ventilation hole in its bottom portion, and
- wherein the outer layer is provided with an integrally molded pusher protruding from its bottom surface, adjacent to the air inlet, to push up against the outer surface of the inner layer when pressure is applied to a distal end of the pusher by a user, to separate the inner layer from the outer layer.
A pre-form for a liquid dispensing device, comprising:
- an inner layer and an outer layer;
- the inner layer having a connection to the outer layer at each of a top portion of the pre-form and a bottom portion of the pre-form;
- the inner layer comprising a protrusion that extends through an opening in a bottom surface of the outer layer through the entire thickness of the outer layer at a position of the opening and beyond the bottom surface of the outer layer, the protrusion flattened so as to provide a connection between the inner layer and the outer layer, the connection being not air tight, the flattened portion of the protrusion having a larger diameter than any diameter of the opening.
