Abstract
Systems, devices, and methods for electroporation ablation therapy are disclosed, with the system including a pulse waveform signal generator for medical ablation therapy, and an endocardial ablation device includes an inflatable member and at least one electrode for focal ablation pulse delivery to tissue. The signal generator may deliver voltage pulses to the ablation device in the form of a pulse waveform. The system may include a cardiac stimulator for generation of pacing signals and for sequenced delivery of pulse waveforms in synchrony with the pacing signal.
Claims14
An apparatus, comprising:
- a catheter shaft defining a longitudinal axis;
- an inflatable member coupled to a distal end of the catheter shaft;
- a first electrode formed on a needle configured to at least partially extend from a distal end of the inflatable member, the needle configured to penetrate into tissue;
- and
- a second electrode formed on the inflatable member and electrically isolated from the first electrode, the first electrode and the second electrode configured to have opposite polarities during delivery of a pulse waveform such that the first electrode and the second electrode collectively generate an electric field that ablates the tissue around the needle.
An apparatus, comprising:
- a catheter shaft defining a longitudinal axis;
- an annular inflatable member coupled to a distal end of the catheter shaft, the annular inflatable member defining a lumen therethrough;
- a first electrode disposed on a distal end of the annular inflatable member, the first electrode having a substantially planar portion;
- and
- a second electrode having a needle shape, the second electrode configured to at least partially extend from, and distal to, the lumen and the first electrode and being spaced apart from the first electrode, the second electrode configured to penetrate into tissue,
- the first and second electrodes configured to have opposite polarities during delivery of a pulse waveform such that the first and second electrodes collectively generate an electric field that ablates the tissue around the needle.
