Abstract
An external defibrillator system is provided. The system includes: a graphical display; one or more sensors for obtaining data regarding chest compressions performed on a patient; and a controller configured to display on the graphical display numeric values for depth and/or rate of the chest compressions based upon the data from the one or more sensors. A method for using an external defibrillator including the steps of: obtaining data regarding chest compressions performed on a patient; and displaying on a graphical display screen of the defibrillator numeric values for depth and/or rate of the chest compressions based upon the data is also provided.
Claims23
A medical system for assisting in the administration of cardiopulmonary resuscitation to a patient, the system comprising:
- a display;
- at least one sensor for obtaining physiological data of the patient;
- a motion sensor comprised in a housing configured to be placed on the patient's sternum for obtaining motion data as a result of chest compressions performed on the patient;
- at least one processor configured to:
- receive the physiological data from the at least one physiological sensor,
- present physiological information on the display based on the received physiological data,
- obtain the motion data from the motion sensor,
- determine whether chest compressions are being administered to the patient based at least in part on the obtained motion data,
- determine whether the patient's chest is being fully released during chest compressions based, at least in part, on the obtained motion data,
- determine chest compression feedback information based on the obtained motion data for the chest compressions performed on the patient,
- modify the display to replace at least a portion of the presented physiological information with the chest compression feedback information based on the determination of whether chest compressions are being administered to the patient, and
- provide on the modified display of the chest compression feedback information a visual indication of whether the patient's chest is being fully released during chest compressions.
A medical system for assisting in the administration of cardiopulmonary resuscitation to a patient, the system comprising:
- a display;
- a motion sensor comprised in a housing configured to be placed on the patient's sternum for obtaining motion data as a result of chest compressions performed on the patient;
- at least one processor configured to:
- determine whether chest compressions are being administered to the patient based at least in part on the obtained motion data,
- calculate sternal displacement based on the obtained motion data,
- determine whether the patient's chest is being fully released during chest compressions based on the obtained motion data,
- modify the display based on the determination of whether chest compressions are being administered to the patient, and
- provide on the modified display a visual indication of whether the patient's chest is being fully released during chest compressions and one or more numeric values of a unit length of the calculated sternal displacement during chest compressions, wherein the displayed one or more numeric values have at least two significant figures and a resolution of less than an inch.
