Methods and systems for supplying and receiving power over ethernet

A system comprising a first network device for receiving and supplying electricity, wherein the first network device comprises:

• at least one processing unit;
• at least two Ethernet interfaces;
• and
• at least one non-transitory computer readable storage medium storing program instructions executable by the at least one processing unit for:
• a. receiving power from a second network device through a first Ethernet interface;
• b. supplying power to a third network device through a second Ethernet interface;
• c. sending a first message to the second network device;
• wherein the first message is to indicate that the first network device is capable of receiving more power than a power limit;
• d. determining whether the second network device is capable of supplying more power than the power limit;
• e. when has determined that the second network device is capable of supplying more power than the power limit:
• i. allowing to receive more power than the power limit from the second network device;
• and
• f. when a second message from the third network device has been received and has determined that the second network device is capable of supplying more power than the power limit:
• i. allowing to supply more power than the power limit to the third network device.
