Abstract
The present invention relates to the identification of p53 biomarker profiles that predict response in patients with hyperproliferative disease such as cancer to a therapy, and their use in methods of treating such patients with an anti-hyperproliferative disease gene therapy.
Claims12
A method of treating a human subject using p53 gene therapy comprising identifying a human subject having a tumor, wherein cells of the tumor:
- i) comprise two wild type p53 alleles;
- ii) express a level of mutant p53 protein that forms inactivating tetramers that is not higher than that expressed in normal p53-expressing non-tumor cells, or
- iii) express a mutant p53 protein that does not form inactivating tetramers;
- wherein if cells of the subject's tumor exhibits at least one of i), ii) or iii), then treating the subject with the p53 gene therapy.
