Abstract
A system, method, and computer readable medium may include technology to enable optimal usage of automotive virtual mirrors. A gaze detector monitors a driver's eyes to determine if the driver is looking in the direction of a virtual mirror. If the driver is not looking in the direction of virtual mirror, all virtual mirrors are placed in a low operational mode. If the driver is looking in the direction of a virtual mirror, the virtual mirror being viewed is placed in a high operational mode and all other virtual mirrors are placed in the low operational mode.
Claims25
An automotive system comprising:
- a gaze detector;
- and
- at least one virtual mirror, the virtual mirror coupled to the gaze detector;
- wherein the gaze detector to continuously monitor a driver of an automobile to determine whether the driver is looking in the direction of the virtual mirror;
- and
- when the driver is not looking in the direction of the virtual mirror, placing the virtual mirror in a low operational mode, wherein the low operational mode reduces one or more of a frame rate or a resolution of an encoder of the virtual mirror to maintain operations of the virtual mirror in a low power state without turning the virtual mirror off.
A method, comprising:
- monitoring, via a gaze detector, a driver's eyes to determine when the driver is looking in the direction of a virtual mirror;
- and
- when the driver is not looking in the direction of a virtual mirror, placing the virtual mirror in a low operational mode, wherein the low operational mode reduces one or more of a frame rate or a resolution of an encoder of the virtual mirror to maintain operations of the virtual mirror in a low power state without turning the virtual mirror off.
At least one computer readable medium, comprising a set of instructions, which when executed by a computing device cause the computing device to:
- monitor, via a gaze detector, a driver's eyes to determine when the driver is looking in the direction of a virtual mirror;
- and
- when the driver is not looking in the direction of the virtual mirror, place the virtual mirrors in a low operational mode, wherein the low operational mode reduces one or more of a frame rate or a resolution of an encoder of the virtual mirror to maintain operations of the virtual mirror in a low power state without turning the virtual mirror off.
