Abstract
Provided are therapeutic compositions containing combinations of bacteria, for the maintenance or restoration of a healthy microbiota in the gastrointestinal tract of a mammalian subject, and methods for use thereof.
Claims17
A method of treating or reducing the severity of a disorder selected from the group consisting of Clostridium difficile infection and ulcerative colitis, comprising:
- administering to a mammalian subject in need thereof an effective amount of a therapeutic bacterial composition, the therapeutic bacterial composition comprising a plurality of isolated bacteria, wherein the plurality of isolated bacteria comprises:
- a first bacterial operational taxonomic units (OTU) comprising a 16S rDNA comprising a sequence at least 97% identical to SEQ ID NO:
- 774, a second bacterial OTU comprising a 16S rDNA comprising a sequence at least 97% identical to SEQ ID NO:
- 856, a third bacterial OTU comprising a 16S rDNA comprising a sequence at least 97% identical to SEQ ID NO:
- 880, and a fourth bacterial OTU comprising a 16S rDNA comprising a sequence at least 97% identical to SEQ ID NO:
- 1670.
