Abstract
Gut health compositions include xylooligosaccharides (XOS) and a kiwifruit extract powder, which may include one or both of a) green kiwifruit extract powder having >7,500, and preferably >25,000, AUs/g actinidin, and optionally about 4.8 mg GAE total phenolics/600 mg and b) gold kiwifruit extract powder having >5,000 AUs/g actinidin and optionally about 6.6 mg GAE total phenolics/600 mg. Xylobiose, xylotriose and/or xylotetraose account for 50-98% by weight of the XOS.

A composition comprising concentrated xylooligosaccharides (XOS) obtained by subjecting a xylan-containing material to heat and acid treatment, adding an enzyme, and filtering, wherein xylobiose, xylotriose and/or xylotetraose account for 50-98% by weight of the concentrated XOS and the composition further comprises a kiwifruit extract powder selected from the group consisting of a) green kiwifruit extract powder comprising >7,500 AUs/g actinidin and b) gold kiwifruit extract powder comprising >5,000 AUs/g actinidin.
A composition comprising concentrated XOS obtained by subjecting a xylan-containing material to heat and acid treatment, adding an enzyme, and filtering, wherein xylobiose, xylotriose and/or xylotetraose account for 50-98% by weight of the XOS and the composition further comprises a combination of green kiwifruit extract powder comprising >7,500 AUs/g actinidin and gold kiwifruit extract powder comprising >5,000 AUs/g actinidin.
