HIF inhibitors and use thereof

A pharmaceutical composition for inhibiting angiogenesis comprising a HIF inhibitor and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, wherein the HIF inhibitor is a compound of Formula III having the formula of:

• R21 is C(O)R24;
• R22 is N (R25)2;
• R23 is independently for each occurrence H, or C1-C6 alkyl;
• R24 is alkoxy, which can be optionally substituted;
• R25 is N═R26 for a first occurrence and H for a second occurrence or N═R26 for a first and a second occurrence;
• R26 is C(SO2R23)CN or and
• pharmaceutically acceptable salts and combinations thereof.
