Abstract
A novel maize variety designated X00N538 and seed, plants and plant parts thereof are produced by crossing inbred maize varieties. Methods for producing a maize plant by crossing hybrid maize variety X00N538 with another maize plant are disclosed. Methods for producing a maize plant containing in its genetic material one or more traits introgressed into X00N538 through backcrossing or genetic transformation, and to the maize seed, plant and plant part produced thereby are described. Maize variety X00N538, the seed, the plant produced from the seed, and variants, mutants, and minor modifications of maize variety X00N538 are provided. Methods for producing maize varieties derived from maize variety X00N538 and methods of using maize variety X00N538 are disclosed.
Claims20
A seed of hybrid maize variety X00N538, representative seed produced by crossing a first plant of variety PH48PW with a second plant of variety PH1W4R, wherein representative seed of the varieties PH48PW and PH1W4R have been deposited under NCMA Accession Number 202004017 and ATCC Accession Number PTA-121351, respectively.
An F1 hybrid maize variety X00N538 seed further comprising at least one and fewer than six locus conversions, the seed further comprising the at least one and fewer than six locus conversions being produced by crossing a first plant of variety PH48PW with a second plant of variety PH1W4R, wherein representative seed of the varieties PH48PW and PH1W4R have been deposited under NCMA Accession Number 202004017 and ATCC Accession Number PTA-121351, respectively, wherein the at least one and fewer than six locus conversions has been introduced into at least one of variety PH48PW and variety PH1W4R, and wherein the seed produces a plant expressing the traits conferred by the at least one and fewer than six locus conversions and comprising otherwise all the physiological and morphological characteristics of maize variety X00N538 when grown under the same environmental conditions when evaluated at the 5% significance level.
A seed of hybrid maize variety X00N538 further comprising a single locus conversion, wherein a plant grown from the seed comprises a trait conferred by the single locus conversion, and wherein the seed is produced by crossing a first plant of variety PH48PW with a second plant of variety PH1W4R, wherein the first plant, the second plant or both further comprise the single locus conversion, and wherein representative seed of the varieties PH48PW and PH1W4R have been deposited under NCMA Accession Number 202004017 and ATCC Accession Number PTA-121351, respectively.
