## Abstract

Aspects of the disclosure relate to the treatment, prevention or alleviation of conditions such as fibrosis in a subject. In some embodiments, the treatment, prevention or alleviation of fibrosis in a subject through the administration of an agent capable of inhibiting the action of Interleukin 11 (IL-11) is disclosed.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A method of treating a disease or condition characterised by fibrosis of an organ of the gastrointestinal system in a human subject, the method comprising administering to the human subject in need of treatment a therapeutically effective amount of an Interleukin 11 (IL-11) antibody which is capable of inhibiting IL-11 mediated signaling.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The method according to claim 1, wherein the disease or condition is characterised by fibrosis of the intestine, small intestine, large intestine, liver, or pancreas.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The method according to claim 1, wherein the disease or condition is selected from the group consisting of Crohn's disease, microscopic colitis, and primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC).

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The method according to claim 1, wherein the antibody is capable of inhibiting or reducing the binding of IL-11 to an IL-11 receptor.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The method according to claim 1, wherein the method comprises administering said antibody to a subject in which IL-11 or IL-11R expression is upregulated.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The method according to claim 1, wherein the method comprises administering said antibody to a subject in which IL-11 or IL-11R expression has been determined to be upregulated.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

The method according to claim 1, wherein the method comprises determining whether IL-11 or IL-11R expression is upregulated in the subject and administering said antibody to a subject in which IL-11 or IL-11R expression is upregulated.

### Claim 8 (depends on 2)

The method of claim 2, wherein the intestine is the small intestine or the large intestine.

### Claim 9

A method of treating a disease or condition characterised by fibrosis selected from the group consisting of Crohn's disease, microscopic colitis, and primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) in a human subject, the method comprising administering to the human subject in need of treatment a therapeutically effective amount of an Interleukin 11 (IL-11) antibody which is capable of inhibiting IL-11 mediated signaling.

### Claim 10 (depends on 9)

The method according to any claim 9, wherein the antibody is capable of inhibiting or reducing the binding of IL-11 to an IL-11 receptor.

### Claim 11 (depends on 9)

The method according to any claim 9, wherein the method comprises administering said antibody to a subject in which IL-11 or IL-11R expression is upregulated.

### Claim 12 (depends on 9)

The method according to any claim 9, wherein the method comprises administering said antibody to a subject in which IL-11 or IL-11R expression has been determined to be upregulated.

### Claim 13 (depends on 9)

The method according to any claim 9, wherein the method comprises determining whether IL-11 or IL-11R expression is upregulated in the subject and administering said antibody to a subject in which IL-11 or IL-11R expression is upregulated.
