## Abstract

Embodiments herein are generally directed to expandable spinal implants, systems, apparatuses, and components thereof that can be used in spinal fusion and/or stabilization procedures, as well as methods of installation. The expandable spinal implants may be configured for lateral insertion.

## Claims

### Claim 1

An expandable spinal implant comprising:
a stationary base member comprising an elongate slot extending along a longitudinal axis of the stationary base member;
a movable base member comprising an angled slot; and
an actuator comprising a first projection configured to be received in the elongate slot and a second projection configured to be received in the angled slot,
wherein rotation of the actuator causes movement of the movable base member relative to the stationary base member
wherein the moveable base member moves laterally with respect to the stationary base member.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The expandable spinal implant of claim 1, wherein the actuator is comprised of a first arm and a second arm separated by a central member.

### Claim 3 (depends on 2)

The expandable spinal implant of claim 2, wherein the central member comprises a threaded hole.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The expandable spinal implant of claim 1, wherein the angled slot is oblique to the longitudinal axis of the stationary base member.

### Claim 5 (depends on 4)

The expandable implant of claim 4, wherein the first projection comprises an upper prong and a lower prong.

### Claim 6 (depends on 5)

The expandable implant of claim 5, wherein the elongate slot comprises a first corridor to receive the upper prong and a second corridor to receive the lower prong.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

The expandable implant of claim 1, wherein a generally central cavity is created between the stationary base member and the movable base member when the movable base member is in a position away from the stationary base member.

### Claim 8 (depends on 1)

The expandable implant of claim 1, further comprising a guide member to facilitate linear motion of the movable base member with respect to the stationary base member.

### Claim 9 (depends on 1)

The expandable implant of claim 1, wherein the actuator is configured to receive a tool to facilitate movement of the actuator between the stationary base member and the movable base member.

### Claim 10 (depends on 1)

The expandable implant of claim 1, wherein the first projection has an upper prong and a lower prong configured to be received in the elongate slot and the second projection comprises an upper prong and a lower prong configured to be received in the angled slot.

### Claim 11

An expandable spinal implant comprising:
a stationary base member comprising a tool engaging recess at a leading end and an elongate slot extending along a longitudinal axis of the stationary base member;
a movable base member comprising an angled slot;
an actuator comprising a first projection configured to be received in the elongate slot and a second projection configured to be received in the angled slot;
wherein the tool engaging recess is configured to receive a tool, and
wherein the actuator is configured to receive the tool to move the actuator between the movable base member and the stationary base member in order to expand or contract a width of the expandable spinal implant,
wherein the moveable base member moves laterally with respect to the stationary base member.

### Claim 12 (depends on 11)

The expandable spinal implant of claim 11, wherein the actuator is comprised of a first arm and a second arm separated by a central member.

### Claim 13 (depends on 12)

The expandable spinal implant of claim 12, wherein the central member comprises a threaded hole to receive the tool.

### Claim 14 (depends on 11)

The expandable spinal implant of claim 11, wherein the angled slot is oblique to the longitudinal axis of the stationary base member.

### Claim 15 (depends on 14)

The expandable implant of claim 14, wherein the first projection comprises an upper prong and a lower prong.

### Claim 16 (depends on 15)

The expandable implant of claim 15, wherein the elongate slot comprises a first corridor to receive the upper prong and a second corridor to receive the lower prong.

### Claim 17 (depends on 11)

The expandable implant of claim 11, wherein a generally central cavity is created between the stationary base member and the movable base member when the movable base member is in a position away from the stationary base member.

### Claim 18 (depends on 11)

The expandable implant of claim 11, further comprising a guide member to facilitate linear motion of the movable base member with respect to the stationary base member.

### Claim 19 (depends on 11)

The expandable implant of claim 11, wherein the actuator is configured to rotate along a threaded portion of the tool to facilitate movement of the actuator between the stationary base member and the movable base member.

### Claim 20 (depends on 11)

The expandable implant of claim 11, wherein the first projection has an upper prong and a lower prong configured to be received in the elongate slot and the second projection comprises an upper prong and a lower prong configured to be received in the angled slot.
