## Abstract

A novel maize variety designated X08N772 and seed, plants and plant parts thereof are produced by crossing inbred maize varieties. Methods for producing a maize plant by crossing hybrid maize variety X08N772 with another maize plant are disclosed. Methods for producing a maize plant containing in its genetic material one or more traits introgressed into X08N772 through backcrossing or genetic transformation, and to the maize seed, plant and plant part produced thereby are described. Maize variety X08N772, the seed, the plant produced from the seed, and variants, mutants, and minor modifications of maize variety X08N772 are provided. Methods for producing maize varieties derived from maize variety X08N772 and methods of using maize variety X08N772 are disclosed.

## Claims

### Claim 1

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

A plant or plant part of hybrid maize variety X08N772 grown from the seed of claim 1, wherein the plant part comprises at least one cell of hybrid maize variety X08N772.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

A method of producing the seed of claim 1, the method comprising crossing a plant of variety PH47KB with a plant of variety PH41M2, wherein representative seed of the varieties PH47KB and PH41M2 have been deposited under ATCC Accession Numbers PTA-126526 and PTA-124813, respectively.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The seed of claim 1, further comprising a transgene, wherein the transgene is introduced by backcrossing or genetic transformation into the variety PH47KB, the variety PH41M2, or both varieties PH47KB and PH41M2, wherein representative seed of the varieties PH47KB and PH41M2 have been deposited under ATCC Accession Numbers PTA-126526 and PTA-124813, respectively and wherein a plant grown from the seed comprises the transgene and otherwise comprises all of the physiological and morphological characteristics of a plant of the hybrid maize variety X08N772.

### Claim 5

A seed of hybrid maize variety X08N772 further comprising a single locus conversion, wherein a plant grown from the seed comprises a trait conferred by the single locus conversion, and wherein the seed is produced by crossing a first plant of variety PH47KB with a second plant of variety PH41M2, wherein the first plant, the second plant or both further comprise the single locus conversion, wherein representative seed of the varieties PH47KB and PH41M2 have been deposited under ATCC Accession Numbers PTA-126526 and PTA-124813, respectively, and wherein a plant grown from the seed comprises the trait and otherwise comprises all of the physiological and morphological characteristics of a plant of the hybrid maize variety X08N772.

### Claim 6 (depends on 5)

The hybrid maize variety X08N772 seed of claim 5, wherein the locus conversion confers a property selected from the group consisting of male sterility, herbicide tolerance, insect resistance, disease resistance, waxy starch, modified fatty acid metabolism, modified phytic acid metabolism, modified carbohydrate metabolism and modified protein metabolism.

### Claim 7 (depends on 5)

The hybrid maize variety X08N772 seed of claim 5, further comprising a seed treatment on the surface of the seed.

### Claim 8 (depends on 5)

A method for producing nucleic acids, the method comprising isolating nucleic acids from the hybrid maize variety X08N772 seed of claim 5.

### Claim 9 (depends on 5)

A plant or plant part grown from the hybrid maize variety X08N772 seed of claim 5, the plant part comprising at least one cell of hybrid maize variety X08N772 further comprising the single locus conversion.

### Claim 10 (depends on 9)

A method of producing a commodity plant product comprising starch, syrup, silage, fat or protein, the method comprising producing the commodity plant product from the plant or plant part of claim 9.

### Claim 11 (depends on 9)

A method for producing a second maize plant, the method comprising applying plant breeding techniques to the plant or plant part of claim 9 to produce the second maize plant.

### Claim 12

A method for producing a hybrid maize variety X08N772 seed further comprising a locus conversion, the method comprising crossing a first plant of variety PH47KB with a second plant of variety PH41M2, representative seed of the varieties PH47KB and PH41M2 having been deposited under ATCC Accession Numbers PTA-126526 and PTA-124813, respectively, wherein at least one of the varieties PH47KB and PH41M2 further comprises the locus conversion.

### Claim 13 (depends on 12)
