Abstract
A wearable device can establish a verified session with a host device (e.g., by establishing that the wearable device is present in the vicinity of the host device and is currently being worn). The existence of such a verified session can be used to control user access to sensitive information that may be stored in or otherwise accessible to a host device. For example, the host device and/or application programs executing thereon can be configured to restrict a user's ability to invoke program functionality that accesses sensitive information based on whether a verified session with a wearable device is currently in progress.
Claims20
A wearable device, comprising:
- a memory configured to store computer-executable instructions;
- a touch-screen display;
- and
- a processor configured to access the memory and execute the computer-executable instructions to at least:
- detect that the wearable device is being worn by a user;
- while the wearable device is in a first position with respect to the user:
- maintain a backlight of the touch-screen display in an off-state;
- and
- determine, based at least in part on sensor data from one or more sensors of the wearable device, that the wearable device has moved from the first position with respect to the user to a second position where the touch-screen display is viewable by the user;
- in accordance with the determination that the wearable device has moved from the first position to the second position:
- maintain the backlight of the touch-screen display in the off-state;
- and
- determine that the wearable device has been rotated to a third position where the touch-screen display is substantially facing the user and is substantially at a same height as the second position;
- and
- in accordance with the determination that the wearable device has been rotated from the second position to the third position, transition the backlight of the touch-screen display of the wearable device to an on-state.
A method of operating a wearable device with one or more sensors and a touch-screen display, comprising:
- detecting that the wearable device is being worn by a user;
- while the wearable device is in a first position with respect to the user:
- maintaining a backlight of the touch-screen display in an off-state;
- and
- determining, based at least in part on sensor data from one or more sensors of the wearable device, that the wearable device has moved from the first position with respect to the user to a second position that is viewable by the user;
- in accordance with the determination that the wearable device has moved from the first position to the second position where the touch-screen display is viewable by the user:
- maintaining the backlight of the touch-screen display in the off-state;
- and
- determining that the wearable device has been rotated to a third position where the touch-screen display is substantially facing the user and is substantially at a same height as the second position;
- and
- in accordance with the determination that the wearable device has been rotated from the second position to the third position, transitioning the backlight of the touch-screen display of the wearable device to an on-state.
A wearable device, comprising:
- a memory configured to store computer-executable instructions;
- a touch-screen display;
- and
- a processor configured to access the memory and execute the computer-executable instructions to at least:
- detect that a user is wearing the wearable device;
- while the wearable device is in a first position with respect to the user:
- maintain a backlight of the touch-screen display in an off-state;
- and
- detect a first event that indicates that the user has moved the wearable device from the first position with respect to the user to a second position where the touch-screen display is viewable by the user;
- while the wearable device is in the second position with respect to the user:
- maintain the backlight of the touch-screen display in the off-state;
- and
- detect a second event that indicates that the user has rotated the wearable device from the second position with respect to the user to a third position where the touch-screen display is substantially facing the user and is substantially at a same height as the second position;
- and
- transition the backlight of the touch-screen display of the wearable device to an on-state in accordance with the second event.
