Communication system for communication in a communication network with subnetworks

A communication system, comprising:

• a plurality of identification entities corresponding to a plurality of subnetworks of a communication network having a plurality of respective subnetwork identifiers, wherein each identification entity of the plurality of identification entities corresponds to a respective subnetwork of the communication network having a respective subnetwork identifier, wherein the communication network is a fifth generation (5G) or further generation network, wherein each respective subnetwork of the communication network is a respective slice of the communication network, and wherein at least one identification entity of the plurality of identification entities is configured to receive an identity of a communication terminal;
• and
• a management entity configured to:
• assign a subnetwork identifier to the communication terminal based on:
• the identity of the communication terminal, an identity of a software application of the communication terminal, and/or operating system information of the communication terminal;
• authenticate the communication terminal for communication over an assigned subnetwork corresponding to the assigned subnetwork identifier;
• and
• manage a correspondence between the plurality of subnetworks and the plurality of subnetwork identifiers via a lookup table;
• wherein each respective slice of the communication network comprises a software-defined entity that is based on a set of objects that define a complete network, wherein each slice supports communication services of a certain type of connection, and wherein each slice is made up of a collection of different network functions and radio access technology settings that are combined together;
• wherein the management entity is configured to relay to a first identification entity a subnetwork identifier of a second subnetwork in response to the communication terminal being authenticated for communication over the second subnetwork, wherein the second subnetwork corresponds to a second identification entity.
