Abstract
The present invention relates to a data transmission method including injecting signals into a communications channel between a predefined hardware device for a computing system and an application executing on the computing system, for receipt by the application. A data transmission system is also disclosed.
Claims18
A data transmission method performed by an injection module, the method including:
- constructing a communications channel between a virtual peripheral input device for an electronic point-of-sale (EPOS) terminal and an EPOS application executing on the EPOS terminal by spoofing the existence of the virtual peripheral device;
- receiving a first signal from a first peripheral input device supported by the EPOS application;
- receiving a second signal from a second peripheral input device not supported by the EPOS application;
- based on at least the received second signal, displaying one or more prompts to an operator of the EPOS terminal;
- receiving inputs from the operator in response to the displayed one or more prompts;
- transmitting, to an external server, a request for data made based on information included in the second signal;
- receiving from the external server a signal responsive to the request;
- generating one or more new signals based on the received first signal from the first peripheral input device, the received second signal from the second peripheral input device, the operator inputs received in response to the displayed one or more prompts, and the signal received from the external server;
- and
- injecting the generated new signals into the communications channel between the virtual peripheral input device and the EPOS application for receipt by the EPOS application.
7 more elements
A data transmission system, comprising:
- a processor configured to construct a communications channel between a virtual peripheral input device for an electronic point-of-sale (EPOS) terminal and an EPOS application executing on the EPOS terminal by spoofing the existence of the virtual peripheral device;
- wherein the processor is further configured to:
- receive a first signal from a first peripheral input device supported by the EPOS application;
- receive a second signal from a second peripheral input device not supported by the EPOS application;
- based on at least the received second signal, display one or more prompts to an operator of the EPOS terminal;
- receive inputs from the operator in response to the displayed one or more prompts;
- transmit, to an external server, a request for data made based on information included in the second signal;
- receive from the external server a signal responsive to the request;
- generate one or more new signals based on the received first signal from the first peripheral input device, the received second signal from the second peripheral input device, the operator inputs received in response to the displayed one or more prompts, and the signal received from the external server;
- and
- inject the generated new signals into the communications channel between the virtual peripheral input device and the EPOS application for receipt by the EPOS application.
8 more elements
A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium having stored therein a computer program for execution by a computer, the computer program, when executed, causes the computer to:
- construct a communications channel between a virtual peripheral input device for an electronic point-of-sale (EPOS) terminal and an EPOS application executing on the EPOS terminal by spoofing the existence of the virtual peripheral device;
- receive a first signal from a first peripheral input device supported by the EPOS application;
- receive a second signal from a second peripheral input device not supported by the EPOS application;
- based on at least the received second signal, display one or more prompts to an operator of the EPOS terminal;
- receive inputs from the operator in response to the displayed one or more prompts;
- transmit, to an external server, a request for data made based on information included in the second signal;
- receive from the external server a signal responsive to the request;
- generate one or more new signals based on the received first signal from the first peripheral input device, the received second signal from the second peripheral input device, the operator inputs received in response to the displayed one or more prompts, and the signal received from the external server;
- and
- inject the generated new signals into the communications channel between the virtual peripheral input device and the EPOS application for receipt by the EPOS application.
