Network problem node identification using traceroute aggregation

A method for computer-aided identification of a potential problem node in a network in response to detecting that a performance problem has occurred in the network, the method comprising:

• gathering telemetric and trace route data for each of a plurality of real-time communications that occurred within a network;
• detecting that a performance problem has occurred in the network;
• identifying multiple real-time communications of the plurality of real-time communications that occurred within a predetermined window of time selected based on when the performance problem occurred in the network;
• aggregating the trace route data for the multiple real-time communications that were identified as occurring around the time of the performance problem;
• and
• identifying a potential problem network node in the network using the aggregation of the trace route data for at least some of the multiple real-time communications that were identified as occurring within the predetermined window of time.

A computing system comprising:

• one or more processors;
• and
• one or more computer-readable media having thereon computer-executable instructions that are structured such that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the computing system to perform computer-aided identification of potential problem nodes in a network in response to detecting that each of multiple performance problems that have occurred in the network, including computer-executable instructions that are structured such that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the computing system to perform the following:
• gather telemetric and trace route data for each of a plurality of real-time communications that occurred within a network;
• for each of multiple performance problems:
• detect that a corresponding performance problem has occurred in the network;
• identify multiple real-time communications of the plurality of real-time communications that occurred within a predetermined window of time selected based on when the corresponding performance problem occurred in the network;
• aggregate the trace route data for the multiple real-time communications that were identified as occurring around the time of the corresponding performance problem;
• and
• identify a potential problem network node in the network using the aggregation of the trace route data for at least some of the multiple real-time communications that were identified as occurring within the predetermined window of time.
