Abstract
A SIP node obtains a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) message comprising a SIP header. The SIP node adds a description of the SIP header into a body of the SIP message. The description comprises an offset field and a length field indicating a position and a size, respectively, of a text string in the SIP header. The SIP node transmits the SIP message with the description added via a network.
Claims18
A Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) node comprising:
- communication circuitry configured to exchange signals with a network;
- processing circuitry communicatively coupled to the communication circuitry and configured to:
- obtain a SIP message comprising a SIP header;
- add a description of the SIP header into a body of the SIP message, wherein the description:
- has a fixed, predetermined size;
- is comprised in the SIP message at a predetermined position;
- and
- comprises an offset field and a length field indicating a position and a size, respectively, of a text string in the SIP header;
- transmit the SIP message with the description added via the network using the communication circuitry.

A method of handling a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) message, implemented by a SIP node, the method comprising:
- obtaining a SIP message comprising a SIP header;
- adding a description of the SIP header into a body of the SIP message, wherein the description:
- has a fixed, predetermined size;
- is comprised in the SIP message at a predetermined position;
- and
- comprises an offset field and a length field indicating a position and a size, respectively, of a text string in the SIP header;
- transmitting the SIP message with the description added via a network.
