Abstract
A method for transmitting data in a multiple-input-multiple-output space-time coded communication using a mapping table mapping a plurality of symbols defining the communication to respective antennae from amongst a plurality of transmission antennae and to at least one other transmission resource. The mapping table may comprise Alamouti-coded primary segments and may also comprise secondary segments, comprising primary segments. The primary segments in the secondary segments may be defined in accordance to an Alamouti based code pattern applied at the segment level to define a segment-level Alamouti based code.
Claims20
A wireless device for performing communication with improved diversity, comprising:
- a memory;
- and
- a processing element coupled to the memory and in communication with first, second, third, and fourth antennae, wherein the first and third antennae are non-adjacent, and wherein the second and fourth antennae are non-adjacent, and wherein the processing element is configured to cause the wireless device to:
- receive a first signal comprising a hybrid automatic repeat request (ARQ) transmission of an encoded data packet, wherein the first signal includes a first two modulation symbols mapped to a first two subcarriers using a first Alamouti block code transmitted from the first and third antennae, and wherein the first two subcarriers are separated by at least one subcarrier;
- and
- wherein the first signal further includes a second two modulation symbols mapped to a second two subcarriers using a second Alamouti block code transmitted from the second and fourth antennae, wherein the second two subcarriers are separated by at least one subcarrier.

- and
- wherein the first signal further includes a second two modulation symbols mapped to a second two subcarriers using a second Alamouti block code transmitted from the third and fourth antennae, wherein the second two subcarriers are separated by at least one subcarrier.
A method for performing communication with improved diversity, comprising:
- receiving a first signal comprising a hybrid automatic repeat request (ARQ) transmission of an encoded data packet, wherein the first signal includes a first two modulation symbols mapped to a first two subcarriers using a first Alamouti block code transmitted from first and second transmit antennae of a wireless device, wherein the first and second transmit antennae are non-adjacent, wherein the first signal further includes a second two modulation symbols mapped to a second two subcarriers using a second Alamouti block code transmitted from third and fourth transmit antennae of the wireless device, wherein the third and fourth transmit antennae are non-adjacent, and wherein the second two subcarriers are separated by at least one subcarrier.
