Abstract
Floodlight controllers with wireless audio/video recording and communication features in accordance with various embodiments of the present disclosure are provided. In one embodiment, a floodlight controller for activating and deactivating a floodlight device may include a camera including an image sensor and having a field of view, a switch having an open condition and a closed condition, and a processor operatively connected to the camera and operatively connected to the switch, wherein the processor is configured to receive an input from the camera and produce an output to the switch to cause the switch to transition from the open condition to the closed condition.
Claims20
A floodlight controller, comprising:
- a camera having a field of view;
- a communication module;
- at least one motion sensor;
- a switch having an open condition and a closed condition;
- non-volatile data storage;
- a rechargeable battery that powers the floodlight controller when an external power source is not available;
- at least one processor operatively connected to the camera, the at least one motion sensor, the switch, the non-volatile data storage, and the rechargeable battery;
- and
- memory storing a program executable by the at least one processor, the program comprising instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the floodlight controller to:
- receive an input from the at least one motion sensor and produce an output to the switch in response to the input from the at least one motion sensor, the output to the switch including a command for the switch to transition from the open condition to the closed condition for activating at least one floodlight;
- receive an input from the camera and, in response to the input from the camera:
- (a) transmit video, using the communication module, to a cloud storage device when network connectivity to the cloud storage device is available, and (b) store the video in the non-volatile data storage when the network connectivity is not available;
- a housing having a lower portion, the housing containing and protecting the camera, the communication module, the at least one motion sensor, the switch, the non-volatile data storage, the rechargeable battery, the at least one processor, and the memory;
- and
- a Fresnel lens positioned to cover and close an opening in the lower portion of the housing.
A floodlight device, comprising:
- at least one floodlight;
- a camera having a field of view;
- a communication module;
- at least one motion sensor;
- a switch having an open condition and a closed condition;
- at least one processor operatively connected to the camera, the at least one motion sensor, and the switch;
- memory storing a program executable by the at least one processor, the program comprising instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the floodlight controller to:
- receive an input from the at least one motion sensor and produce an output to the switch in response to the input from the at least one motion sensor, the output to the switch including a command for the switch to transition from the open condition to the closed condition for activating the at least one floodlight;
- and
- receive an input from the camera and, in response to the input from the camera, transmit a notification, using the communication module, to a client device via a server;
- a housing having a tapered lower portion with an opening, the housing containing and protecting the camera, the communication module, the at least one motion sensor, the switch, the at least one processor, and the memory;
- and
- a Fresnel lens positioned to cover and close the opening.
