Method for offering a protection policy for a mobile device

A system comprising:

• one or more processors configured to communicate with an application on a mobile device, wherein the application is configured to cause the mobile device to perform testing including background testing to determine a typical operational use or condition of the mobile device and functional testing to test one or more functional aspects of the mobile device;
• and
• a computer-readable medium storing instructions that when executed cause the one or more processors to perform operations comprising:
• receiving, from the mobile device, one or more testing results as a result of the application conducting the background testing and the functional testing,
• calculating a risk associated with providing an insurance offer for protecting the mobile device based on the one or more testing results, and
• determining whether to present the insurance offer to a user of the mobile device, wherein the one or more processors are configured to present the offer to the user of the mobile device if the calculated risk indicates that the mobile device is insurable.

A system comprising:

• one or more processors configured to communicate with an application on a mobile device, wherein the application is configured to cause the mobile device to perform testing including background testing to determine a typical operational use or condition of the mobile device and functional testing to test one or more functional aspects of the mobile device;
• and
• a computer-readable medium storing instructions that when executed cause the one or more processors to perform operations comprising:
• receiving, from the mobile device, one or more testing results as a result of the application conducting the background testing and the functional testing,
• calculating a risk associated with providing an offer relating to the mobile device based on the one or more testing results, and
• determining whether to present the offer to a user of the mobile device, wherein the one or more processors are configured to present the offer to the user of the mobile device if the calculated risk indicates that the mobile device has a resell value.
