Abstract
A cloud wallet system may receive an indication from a third party system that a user has checked-in at a merchant. The cloud wallet system then determines whether the merchant has an account with the cloud wallet system so that a point-of-sale (POS) purchase can be processed via the user check-in. If the merchant has an account with the cloud wallet system, a user profile corresponding to the user is sent to the merchant and a point-of-sale transaction based on a third party user check-in may be processed by the merchant through the cloud wallet system.
Claims20
A computer-implemented method for a secure transaction between a point of sale system and a cloud wallet system, the computer-implemented method comprising:
- receiving, by a social network system and from a mobile device over a network, an individual user check-in received from a third party application of the social network system that is stored on the mobile device and that is configured to interact with the social network system to determine that the mobile device is located at a merchant location of a merchant, wherein the social network system (i) is different from the cloud wallet system, (ii) is in communication with the cloud wallet system over a communications network, (iii) provides social network services to a plurality of users, and (iv) lacks a dedicated cloud wallet system for processing an electronic payment based on the individual user check-in;
- for the individual user check ins:
- verifying, by the social network system, that an account of the merchant is registered for processing an electronic payment based on the individual user check-in;
- determining, by the social network system, that a user account is linked to a cloud wallet account of a cloud wallet service of the cloud wallet system such that the electronic payment is capable of being processed without use of the dedicated cloud wallet system;
- transmitting, from the social network system and to the cloud wallet service, a request for payment information from the linked cloud wallet account;
- receiving, at the social network system and from the cloud wallet service, the payment information;
- transmitting, from the social network system, at least a portion of the payment information that is received from the cloud wallet service, to enable the merchant device to process the electronic payment based on the individual user check-in using at least the portion of the payment information;
- and
- causing a notification to be displayed in association with the third party application stored on the mobile device, the notification indicating that the electronic payment has been submitted based on the individual user check-in.
A computer-implemented method comprising:
- receiving, by a social network system, a user check-in received from a third party application of the social network system that is stored on a mobile device, the user check-in indicating that the mobile device is located at or within a predetermined distance of a merchant location of a merchant, wherein the social network system (i) is different from a cloud wallet system, (ii) is in communication with the cloud wallet system over a communications network, (iii) provides social network services to a plurality of users, and (iv) lacks a dedicated cloud wallet system for processing an electronic payment based on the user check-in;
- determining, by the social network system, that the merchant is registered to conduct a point-of-sale (POS) purchase using the user check-in;
- determining, by the social network system, that a user account is linked to a cloud wallet account of a cloud wallet service of the cloud wallet system such that the electronic payment is capable of being processed without use of the dedicated cloud wallet system;
- requesting, by the social network system, cloud wallet account information from the cloud wallet system, wherein the cloud wallet account information includes one or more purchase restrictions;
- receiving, at the social network system, the cloud wallet account information from the cloud wallet system;
- and
- transmitting, by the social network system, at least a portion of the cloud wallet account information to a merchant device of the merchant to enable completion of the POS purchase using the user check-in.
A social network system comprising:
- one or more processors;
- one or more memories coupled to the one or more processors;
- one or more computer-executable instructions stored in the one or more memories and executable by the one or more processors to perform operations comprising:
- receiving an individual user check-in from a third party application that is stored on a mobile device, wherein the individual user check-in locates the mobile device at a merchant location of a merchant;
- determining, for the individual user check-in, that a user account associated with the mobile device is linked to a respective cloud wallet account of a cloud wallet system;
- and
- determining that the merchant associated with the merchant location at which the mobile device is located has a merchant account registered for point-of-sale (POS) check-in purchases;
- receiving, for the individual user check-in and from the respective cloud wallet account, cloud wallet account information based at least in part on the determining that the user account is linked to the respective cloud wallet account of the cloud wallet system and the determining that the merchant has the merchant account that is registered for POS check-in purchases;
- and
- transmitting, for the individual user check-in, at least a portion of the cloud wallet account information to a merchant device of the merchant to complete a POS transaction for the merchant,
- wherein the social network system (i) is different from the cloud wallet system, (ii) is in communication with the cloud wallet system over a communications network, (iii) provides social network services to a plurality of users, and (iv) lacks a dedicated cloud wallet system for processing an electronic payment based on the individual user check-in.
