Systems and methods for automatically creating tables using auto-generated templates

A system comprising:

• one or more processors;
• one or more non-transitory computer-readable media including one or more sequences of instructions which, when executed by the one or more processors, causes:
• receiving a report comprising lines of text;
• generating one or more templates for processing the report, wherein at least one of the templates includes a trap mask corresponding to a group of the lines of text in the report, the trap mask including one or more indications of expected character properties at given character positions on a line of text, wherein the trap mask is generated by:
• generating, by the computing system, a cumulative mask corresponding to the group of the lines of text by (1) comparing a character mask of each character offset in a first line to a character mask of a corresponding character offset in a second line, and (2) assigning an updated variable or code to the corresponding character offset based on a set of category mask comparison rules, wherein the set of category mask comparison rules includes rules for alphabetic, numeric, punctuation, blank space, non-blank, and ignored characters;
• extracting text from the report based on the one or more templates;
• generating one or more tables using the text extracted from the report, wherein generating the one or more tables includes assigning text from text fragments of the lines of text to corresponding lines and fields in the one or more tables;
• and
• providing an electronic document comprising the one or more tables.

A non-transitory computer-readable medium including one or more sequences of instructions which, when executed by one or more processors, causes:

• receiving a report comprising lines of text;
• generating one or more templates for processing the report, wherein at least one of the templates includes a trap mask corresponding to a group of the lines of text in the report, the trap mask including one or more indications of expected character properties at given character positions on a line of text, wherein the trap mask is generated by:
• generating, by the computing system, a cumulative mask corresponding to the group of the lines of text by (1) comparing a character mask of each character offset in a first line to a character mask of a corresponding character offset in a second line, and (2) assigning an updated variable or code to the corresponding character offset based on a set of category mask comparison rules, wherein the set of category mask comparison rules includes rules for alphabetic, numeric, punctuation, blank space, non-blank, and ignored characters;
• extracting text from the report based on the one or more templates;
• generating one or more tables using the text extracted from the report, wherein generating the one or more tables includes assigning text from text fragments of the lines of text to corresponding lines and fields in the one or more tables;
• and
• providing an electronic document comprising the one or more tables.
