Systems and methods for tracking and interacting with zones in 3D space

A computing system for automatically controlling a sound speaker system, the computing system comprising:

• a communication device able to receive position data about a physical object in a physical environment and to transmit data to control the sound speaker system;
• memory for storing a three dimensional virtual environment, the virtual environment corresponding to the physical environment;
• the virtual environment comprising a virtual object that corresponds to the physical object, and a zone defining a volume of space within the virtual environment;
• the memory further storing a zone database that comprises zone attributes of the zone, including one or more interaction operations to execute when the virtual object is within the zone;
• and
• a processor configured to execute at least the following instructions:
• receive a current position of the physical object;
• update the virtual environment by moving the virtual object to a new position, the new position corresponding to the current position of the physical object;
• detect that the virtual object is positioned in the zone;
• and
• access the zone database to obtain and subsequently execute an interaction operation, the interaction operation comprising data to control the sound speaker system in relation to at least one of the zone and the physical object.

A system for automatically controlling a physical device, the system comprising:

• a communication device able to receive position data about a physical object in a physical environment and to transmit data to control the physical device;
• memory for storing a three dimensional virtual environment, the virtual environment corresponding to the physical environment;
• the virtual environment comprising a virtual object that corresponds to a physical object, a dynamic zone defining a volume of space around the virtual object, and a static zone defining another volume of space in the virtual environment;
• the memory further storing a zone database that comprises zone attributes of the dynamic zone and the static zone, including one or more interaction operations to execute when the dynamic zone overlaps with the static zone;
• a processor configured to execute at least the following instructions:
• receive a current position of each of the physical object;
• update the virtual environment by moving the virtual object to a new position based on the current position of the physical object, and moving the dynamic zone to encompass the new position corresponding to the current position of the physical object;
• detect that the dynamic zone overlaps the static zone;
• access the zone database to obtain and subsequently execute an interaction operation, the interaction operation comprising data to control the physical device.

A system for automatically controlling a physical device, the system comprising:

• a communication device able to receive position data about a first physical object and a second physical object in a physical environment and to transmit data to control the physical device;
• memory for storing a three dimensional virtual environment, the virtual environment corresponding to the physical environment;
• the virtual environment comprising a first virtual object that corresponds to the first physical object, a first dynamic zone defining a volume of space around the first virtual object, a second virtual object that corresponds to the second physical object, and a second dynamic zone defining another volume of space around the second virtual object;
• the memory further storing a zone database that comprises zone attributes of the first dynamic zone and the second dynamic zone, including one or more interaction operations to execute when the first dynamic zone and the second dynamic zone overlap;
• a processor configured to execute at least the following instructions:
• receive a current position of each of the first physical object and the second physical object;
• update the virtual environment by moving the first virtual object to a first new position based on the current position of the first physical object, and moving the first dynamic zone to encompass the first new position corresponding to the current position of the first physical object;
• update the virtual environment by moving the second virtual object to a second new position based on the current position of the second physical object, and moving the second dynamic zone to encompass the second new position corresponding to the current position of the second physical object;
• detect that the first dynamic zone and the second dynamic zone are overlapping;
• access the zone database to obtain and subsequently execute an interaction operation, the interaction operation comprising data to control the physical device.

A system for automatically controlling a physical device, the system comprising:

• a communication device able to receive position data about a physical object in a physical environment and to transmit data to control the physical device;
• memory for storing a three dimensional virtual environment, the virtual environment corresponding to the physical environment;
• the virtual environment comprising a virtual object that corresponds to a physical object, a dynamic zone defining a volume of space around the virtual object, and a virtual path;
• the memory further storing a zone database that comprises zone attributes of the dynamic zone, including one or more interaction operations to execute when the dynamic zone overlaps with the virtual path;
• a processor configured to execute at least the following instructions:
• receive a current position of each of the physical object;
• update the virtual environment by moving the virtual object to a new position based on the current position of the physical object, and moving the dynamic zone to encompass the new position corresponding to the current position of the physical object;
• detect that the dynamic zone overlaps the virtual path;
• access the zone database to obtain and subsequently execute an interaction operation, the interaction operation comprising data to control the physical device.
