Abstract
Eyewear is provided including a frame, and a camera connected with the frame, in which the camera is configured to be controlled by a remote controller. The camera may be configured to capture video and/or a photo. The eyewear may include data storage, and the camera may be connected to the data storage. A wrist watch may be configured to act both as a time piece and a controller of the camera. The eyewear may also include a heads up display and/or a video file player. The eyewear may also include an electro-active lens.
Claims31
An ophthalmic system comprising:
- a base optic to provide a fixed base optical power;
- a first electro-active element, in optical communication with the base optic and having a first plurality of electrodes, to provide a first variable refractive index change in response to a first phase-wrapped voltage applied to the first plurality of electrodes;
- and
- a second electro-active element, in optical series with the first electro-active element and having a second plurality of electrodes, to provide a second variable refractive index change in response to a second phase-wrapped voltage applied to the second plurality of electrodes.
A method of actuating an ophthalmic system comprising a base optic in optical communication with a first electro-active element and a second electro-active element, the first electro-active element having a first plurality of electrodes and the second electro-active element having a second plurality of electrodes, the method comprising:
- applying a first phase-wrapped voltage to the first plurality of electrodes, the first phase-wrapped voltage causing a change in a refractive index of the first electro-active element;
- and
- applying a second phase-wrapped voltage to the second plurality of electrodes, the second phase-wrapped voltage causing a change in a refractive index of the second electro-active element.
An ophthalmic system comprising:
- an ophthalmic lens to provide a fixed base optical power;
- a first liquid-crystal element, in optical communication with the ophthalmic lens and having a first plurality of linear electrodes orthogonal to an optical axis of the ophthalmic lens, to provide a first variable refractive index change in a first dimension in response to a first phase-wrapped voltage applied to the first plurality of linear electrodes;
- and
- a second liquid-crystal element, in optical series with the first liquid-crystal element and having a second plurality of linear electrodes orthogonal to the optical axis of the ophthalmic lens and to the first plurality of linear electrodes, to provide a second variable refractive index change in a second dimension orthogonal to the first dimension in response to a second phase-wrapped voltage applied to the second plurality of linear electrodes.
An ophthalmic system comprising:
- a substrate;
- an electro-active element, associated with the substrate, to provide at least one of a variable optical power or a variable transmittance, the electro-active element comprising;
- a first electro-active element having a first plurality of linear electrodes oriented orthogonal to an optical axis of the ophthalmic system;
- and
- a second electro-active element in optical communication with the first electro-active element, the second electro-active element having a second plurality of linear electrodes oriented orthogonal to the optical axis and to the first plurality of linear electrodes, at least one of the first plurality of linear electrodes or the second plurality of linear electrodes comprising independently controllable linear electrodes.
