Abstract
A system for interfacing an LC sensor includes a starter configured to selectively start an oscillation of the LC sensor. The system also includes an analog peak detector configured to determine a signal being indicative of a peak voltage of the oscillation of the LC sensor and a detector configured to determine a state of the LC sensor as a function of the signal determined by the analog peak detector.
Claims20
A method for determining a state of an LC sensor, the method comprising:
- exciting the LC sensor by providing a predetermined voltage to a first terminal, the first terminal being coupled to the LC sensor;
- enabling a peak detector at a first falling edge of an oscillation of the LC sensor;
- detecting a peak voltage of an overshoot of oscillation of the LC sensor at a second terminal using the peak detector, the second terminal being coupled to the LC sensor;
- disabling the peak detector at a second falling edge of the oscillation of the LC sensor, the second falling edge being immediate after the first falling edge;
- and
- determining the state of the LC sensor based on the peak voltage.

A system comprising:
- a circuit having first and second terminals;
- an LC sensor having a first terminal coupled to the first terminal of the circuit;
- a first capacitor coupled to a second terminal of the LC sensor;
- a diode having an anode coupled to the first capacitor and a cathode coupled to the second terminal of the circuit;
- and
- a second capacitor coupled between the cathode of the diode and a reference terminal, wherein the circuit is configured to:
- excite the LC sensor by providing a voltage to the first terminal of the circuit,
- detect a peak voltage of an overshoot of an oscillation of the LC sensor at the second terminal of the circuit, and
- determine a state of the LC sensor based on the peak voltage of the overshoot, wherein the first capacitor has a first capacitance, and the second capacitor has a second capacitance substantially equal to the first capacitance.

A system comprising:
- a plurality of terminals configured to be coupled to a plurality of LC sensors;
- a first peak detector;
- and
- a control circuit configured to:
- excite each LC sensor by providing a predetermined voltage to one or more of the plurality of terminal,
- enable the first peak detector at a first falling edge of an oscillation of a first LC sensor of the plurality of LC sensors;
- detect respective peak voltages of respective overshoots of a respective oscillation of each LC sensor, wherein the first peak detector is configured to detect at least a peak voltage of the oscillation of the first LC sensor,
- disable the first peak detector at a second falling edge of the oscillation of the first LC sensor, the second falling edge being immediate after the first falling edge;
- and
- determine a state of each LC sensor based on the respective peak voltage.
