Ultrasonic flowmeter and method of controlling an ultrasonic flowmeter by simultaneously driving a pair of transducers without correlation

An ultrasonic flowmeter comprising:

• a pipe segment to receive a flow;
• a first pair of transducers defining a first ultrasonic path in the pipe segment to be subjected to the flow;
• a second pair of transducers defining a second ultrasonic path in the pipe segment to be subjected to the flow, wherein the second ultrasonic path is different from the first ultrasonic path;
• a controller to control the first and second pair of transducers,
• wherein the controller is configured to drive a transducer of the first pair of transducers with a first code and simultaneously drive a transducer of the second pair of transducers with a second code, wherein the first code and the second code are not correlated to each other.

A flow system comprising one or more ultrasonic flowmeters, each ultrasonic flowmeter comprising:

• a pipe segment to receive a flow;
• a first pair of transducers defining a first ultrasonic path in the pipe segment to be subjected to the flow;
• a second pair of transducers defining a second ultrasonic path in the pipe segment to be subjected to the flow, wherein the second ultrasonic path is different from the first ultrasonic path;
• a controller to control the first and second pair of transducers,
• wherein the controller is configured to drive a transducer of the first pair of transducers with a first code and simultaneously drive a transducer of the second pair of transducers with a second code, wherein the first code and the second code are not correlated to each other.
