A method for purifying a virus particle comprising applying a sample comprising a virus in a two part aqueous solvent comprising a carbohydrate and a salt into a spiral tubing in a countercurrent chromatography rotor, flowing a fluid phase through said tubing, and exposing said rotor to planetary motion to separate said virus from said sample.
