Abstract
Disclosed are methods for the preparation of ligands for complexes, methods for preparing complexes and complexes having those ligands. Also provided is the use of a complex as a catalyst in a method of synthesis.
Claims18
A method of preparing an amine compound of formula (I), the method comprising the steps of reducing an amide of formula (II) with a reducing agent to form the amine compound of formula (I), wherein (I) and (II) have the structures shown below:
- wherein:
- RA is —SO2R10 or —RN,
- Cy is optionally substituted cyclohexadienyl;
- D is an optionally substituted straight- or branched-chain C1-4 alkyl group, or D is a group:
- wherein:
- L1 is a covalent bond or optionally substituted C1-3 alkyl;
- L2 is a covalent bond or optionally substituted C1-2 alkyl;
- and
- G is —O—, —S—, optionally substituted C6-10 aryl, optionally substituted C3-10 heteroaryl, or optionally substituted C6-10 cycloalkyl;
- and the asterisk indicates the point of attachment to Cy;
- A is *—CH2NHC(R6R7)— or *—C(R4R5)NHCH2—, where the asterisk indicates the point of attachment to D;
- E is *—C(O)NHC(R6R7)— or *—C(R4R5)NHC(O)—, where the asterisk indicates the point of attachment to D;
- R4 and R5 are independently hydrogen, straight- or branched-chain C1-20 alkyl, straight, branched or cyclic C1-10 alkoxy, C6-10 aryl, C6-10 aryloxy, —OH, —CN, or —CF3;
- R6, R7, R8 and R9 are independently hydrogen, optionally substituted straight, branched or cyclic C1-20 alkyl, optionally substituted straight, branched or cyclic C1-20 alkoxy, optionally substituted C6-20 aryl or optionally substituted C6-20 aryloxy, or
- R6 and R7 together with the carbon atom to which they are bound and/or R8 and R9 together with the carbon atom to which they are bound form an optionally substituted C3-20 cycloalkyl or an optionally substituted C2-20 cycloalkoxy, or
- one of R6 and R7 and one of R8 and R9 together form an optionally substituted C5-10 cycloalkyl or an optionally substituted C5-10 cycloalkoxy;
- R10 is hydrogen, optionally substituted straight, branched or cyclic C1-10 alkyl, optionally substituted C6-10 aryl or —NR11R12, where R11 and R12 are, independently, optionally substituted straight- or branched-chain C1-10 alkyl or optionally substituted C6-10 aryl;
- RN is hydrogen, or straight, branched or cyclic C1-10 alkyl;
- R11 and R12 are independently hydrogen, optionally substituted straight, branched or cyclic C1-10 alkyl, or optionally substituted C6-10 aryl, or
- R11 and R12 together with the nitrogen atom to which they are bound form an optionally substituted C2-10 cycloalkyl-amino group.
