Abstract
The invention provides compounds for use in inhibiting a microbial alternative oxidase (AOX) and/or cytochrome bc1 complex. The invention extends to the use of such inhibitors in agrochemicals and in pharmaceuticals, for treating microbial infections, including fungal infections.
Claims13
A method of treating a fungal disease or infection in a plant by inhibiting a fungal alternative oxidase (AOX), the method comprising contacting an agrochemical composition comprising a compound of formula I with a plant having the disease or infection and thereby contacting the fungal AOX with the compound represented by formula I:—
- wherein R1 is a group selected from:
- CHO;
- CN;
- C(O)NH2;
- C(O)NHCH3;
- C(O)CH3;
- COOH;
- and COOCH3;
- R2 is hydrogen, hydroxy or an alkoxy group with 1 to 3 C atoms;
- R3 is a straight chain or branched alkyl or alkylene with 6 to 20 C atoms that is optionally mono- or polysubstituted by a C1 to C4 alkyl group;
- R4 is a hydroxy group;
- R5 is a halogen group;
- and
- R6 is H or a C1 to C4 alkyl group.
