Abstract
Embodiments of the present invention relate to glass compositions, glass fibers formed from such compositions, and related products. In one embodiment, a glass composition comprises 58-62 weight percent SiO2, 14-17 weight percent Al2O3, 14-17.5 weight percent CaO, and 6-9 weight percent MgO, wherein the amount of Na2O is 0.09 weight percent or less.

A fiberizable glass composition comprising:
- 58-62 weight percent SiO2;
- 14-17 weight percent Al2O3;
- 11-17 weight percent CaO;
- 6-9 weight percent MgO;
- F2 is present in an amount of greater than 0 weight percent to 0.5 weight percent;
- at least one rare earth oxide or a mixture of rare earth oxides is present in a total amount of at least 0.1 weight percent to 3.0 weight percent;
- and
- 0-0.09 weight percent Na2O,
- wherein the (Na2O+K2O+Li2O) content is less than 1 weight percent.

- ZrO2 is present in an amount of greater than 0 weight percent to 2 weight percent;
- F2 is present in an amount of greater than 0 weight percent to 0.5 weight percent;
- at least one rare earth oxide or a mixture of rare earth oxides is present in a total amount of at least 0.1 weight percent to 3.0 weight percent;
- and
- 0-0.09 weight percent Na2O,
- wherein the (Na2O+K2O+Li2O) content is less than 1 weight percent.

- 12.5-17.5 weight percent CaO;
- 6-8.5 weight percent MgO;

- at least one rare earth oxide or a mixture of rare earth oxides is present in a total amount of at least 0.1 weight percent to 3.0 weight percent;
- and
- 0-0.09 weight percent Na2O,
- wherein the (Na2O+K2O+Li2O) content is less than 1 weight percent, and
- wherein the CaO/MgO ratio is greater than 2.0.
