Abstract
There is described inter alia a medical device having a surface which comprises a coating layer, said coating layer being a biocompatible composition comprising an anti-coagulant entity capable of interacting with mammalian blood to prevent coagulation or thrombus formation, which anti-coagulant entity is covalently attached to said surface through a linker comprising a thioether.
Claims8
A compound comprising a heparin moiety capable of interacting with mammalian blood to prevent coagulation or thrombus formation which heparin moiety carries an alkene group, which alkene group is directly attached to a linker, wherein the linker is end-point attached to the heparin moiety, wherein the compound is obtainable by reacting an alkene-containing group with an aldehyde group or hemi-acetal function at the reducing end of the heparin moiety.
A compound of formula:
- R1—O—N═R′
- wherein R1 is an alkene-containing group and R′ is a heparin moiety bound at its reducing end, capable of interacting with mammalian blood to prevent coagulation or thrombus formation.
A heparin moiety capable of interacting with mammalian blood to prevent coagulation or thrombus formation which heparin moiety carries an alkene group comprising a maleimide derivative, which alkene group is attached to a linker, wherein the linker is end-point attached to the heparin moiety.
A heparin moiety capable of interacting with mammalian blood to prevent coagulation or thrombus formation which heparin moiety carries an alkene group, which alkene group is attached to a linker comprising a thioether, wherein the linker is end-point attached to the heparin moiety.
