Abstract
A mine safety system is provided for preventing coal dust explosions in an underground coal mine. The system comprises a reservoir, for storing an inerting agent; a compressor, for providing compressed air; and a mixer, coupled to the reservoir and the compressor, for mixing the inerting agent and compressed air and providing the mixture to the underground coal mine. The reservoir is located outside of the coal mine.
Claims20
A mine safety system, for preventing coal dust explosions in an underground coal mine, the system comprising:
- a reservoir, for storing an inerting agent comprising stone dust;
- a compressor, for providing compressed air;
- a mixer, coupled to the reservoir and the compressor, for mixing the inerting agent and compressed air and providing the mixture to the underground coal mine;
- wherein the reservoir is located outside of the coal mine;
- a controller for controlling a flow of stone dust into the mine;
- and
- one or more sensors, wherein the controller is configured to control the flow of stone dust into the mine at least in part according to the one or more sensors.
