Abstract
There is provided a method and device for provisioning emergency number information on a user equipment. When a dialed number matches an emergency number from the provisioned emergency number information, the user equipment selects either the circuit switched domain or the packet switched domain and executes a call setup procedure for that domain.
Claims19
A method by a network element in a Public Land Mobile Network (PLMN) comprising:
- receiving a request from a User Equipment (UE);
- in response to the request, providing the UE with emergency information, the emergency information including at least one emergency number and an indication to initiate a call on either a Circuit Switched (CS) domain or a Packet Switched (PS) domain for each of the at least one emergency number.
A network element in a Public Land Mobile Network (PLMN) comprising:
- a processor;
- and
- a communications subsystem;
- wherein the processor and the communications subsystem cooperate to:
- receive a request from a User Equipment (UE);
- in response to the request, provide the UE with emergency information, the emergency information including at least one emergency number and an indication to initiate a call on either a Circuit Switched (CS) domain or a Packet Switched (PS) domain for each of the at least one emergency number.
A non-transitory computer readable medium having stored thereon executable code for execution by a processor of a network element in a Public Land Mobile Network (PLMN), the executable code comprising instructions for:
- receiving a request from a User Equipment (UE);
- in response to the request, providing the UE with emergency information, the emergency information including at least one emergency number and an indication to initiate a call on either a Circuit Switched (CS) domain or a Packet Switched (PS) domain for each of the at least one emergency number.
