Live migration of containers based on geo-location

A computer program product for container communication, comprising:

• one or more computer readable storage media and program instructions stored on the one or more computer readable storage media, the program instructions comprising:
• program instructions to, in response to determining to send a message, add an inter container communication node to a tracking structure, wherein the tracking structure is an AVL tree, and wherein the inter container communication node stores metric data and refreshes the metric data in each hypervisor kernel of a distributed cloud computing environment;
• program instructions to dynamically determine when and where to perform a live migration of a container originating the message between a plurality of machines based on geographical location of each machine of the plurality of machines and frequency of data exchange between each machine, wherein
• the program instructions to dynamically determine where to perform a live migration comprises:
• program instructions to identify that the container originating the message runs on a first machine of the plurality of machines that is in a physically different geographical location from a container running on a second machine of the plurality of machines designated as a recipient of the message, and
• program instructions to optimize a communications infrastructure between the first machine and the second machine by identifying a single geographic location to migrate either the container originating the message or the container designated as the recipient;
• and
• program instructions to migrate the container from the first machine to a server identified as the single geographic location that communicates with each of the first and the second machine.

A computer system for container communication, comprising:

• one or more computer processors;
• one or more computer readable storage media;
• program instructions to, in response to determining to send a message, add an inter container communication node to a tracking structure, wherein the tracking structure is an AVL tree, and wherein the inter container communication node stores metric data and refreshes the metric data in each hypervisor kernel of a distributed cloud computing environment;
• program instructions to dynamically determine when and where to perform a live migration of a container originating the message between a plurality of machines based on geographical location of each machine of the plurality of machines and frequency of data exchange between each machine, wherein
• the program instructions to dynamically determine where to perform a live migration comprises:
• program instructions to identify that the container originating the message runs on a first machine of the plurality of machines that is in a physically different geographical location from a container running on a second machine of the plurality of machines designated as a recipient of the message, and
• program instructions to optimize a communications infrastructure between the first machine and the second machine by identifying a single geographic location to migrate either the container originating the message or the container designated as the recipient;
• and
• program instructions to migrate the container from the first machine to a server identified as the single geographic location that communicates with each of the first and the second machine.
