Abstract
Described are systems and methods for establishing and generating collections of sets that contain object identifiers based on user provided annotations for the object identifiers. A set may include one or more object identifiers and each object identifier may include one or more user provided annotations. Annotations from all object identifiers within a set are processed to form a set profile signature representative of the set. The set profile signatures are then compared between different sets to identify similar sets. Similar sets are included in a collection. Utilizing set profile signatures for a set formed based on user provided annotations provides useful relationships between sets that might otherwise not exist.
Claims20
A computing system, comprising:
- one or more processors;
- and
- a memory coupled to the one or more processors and storing program instructions that when executed by the one or more processors cause the one or more processors to at least:
- identify a first plurality of sets, each of the first plurality of sets including one or more object identifiers;
- determine a second plurality of sets from the first plurality of sets, each set of the second plurality of sets having an existing link with at least one other set of the second plurality of sets, the second plurality of sets including fewer sets than the first plurality of sets, wherein each existing link includes a probability of traversal and the second plurality of sets is determined by discarding at least one existing link based on its respective probability of traversal;
- for each set of the second plurality of sets, process annotations associated with the one or more object identifiers of the set to determine a set profile signature;
- form, based at least in part on the set profile signatures, a collection that includes at least some of the sets;
- and
- subsequent to formation of the collection based at least in part on the set profile signatures, send for presentation the at least some of the sets of the collection.
A computer-implemented method, comprising:
- identifying a first plurality of linked sets, each set of the first plurality of linked sets including one or more object identifiers;
- reducing the first plurality of linked sets to a second plurality of linked sets, wherein:
- the second plurality of linked sets includes fewer linked sets than the first plurality of linked sets;
- and
- wherein reducing includes:
- determining, for each link between the first plurality of linked sets, a respective probability indicating a likelihood that a user starting at a first linked set will navigate to another linked set connected by the link;
- discarding at least one link between the first plurality of linked sets based on its respective probability to determine the second plurality of linked sets;
- for each linked set of the second plurality of linked sets, generating a set profile signature based on a respective annotation associated with the linked set;
- forming, based at least in part on the set profile signatures, a collection that includes at least some of the linked sets of the second plurality of linked sets;
- and
- sending, for presentation, the at least some of the linked sets of the collection.
A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing instructions to establish relationships between items, the instructions when executed by a processor causing the processor to at least:
- identify a first plurality of sets, each of the first plurality of sets including one or more object identifiers;
- reduce the first plurality of sets to a second plurality of sets, wherein the second plurality of sets includes fewer sets than the first plurality of sets and wherein each link between the first plurality of sets includes a probability of traversal and reducing the first plurality of sets to the second plurality of sets includes discarding at least one link based on its respective probability of traversal;
- for each set of the second plurality of sets, process annotations associated with the one or more object identifiers of the set to determine a set profile signature;
- form, based at least in part on the set profile signatures, a collection that includes at least some of the sets;
- and
- subsequent to formation of the collection based at least in part on the set profile signatures, send for presentation the at least some of the sets of the collection.
