Abstract
A system and method for service discovery. A network management system constructs, based on configuration data associated with a first network device and a second network device, respectively, a first partial service instance associated with a service executing on a first network device and a second partial service instance associated with the service executing on a second network device. The network management system merges the first partial service instance and a second partial service instance to form a merged partial service instance. The network management system promotes the merged partial service instance as a service instance.

A method comprising:
- constructing, in a network management system, a first partial service instance, the first partial service instance based on configuration information received from a first network device, the configuration information associated with a service executing on the first network device;
- constructing, in the network management system, a second partial service instance, the second partial service instance based on configuration information received from a second network device, the configuration information associated with the same service executing on the second network device;
- merging the first partial service instance and the second partial service instance to form a merged partial service instance;
- and
- promoting the merged partial service instance as a service instance.
A service management system, comprising:
- a service database;
- one or more processors;
- and
- at least one non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing instructions that are executable by the one or more processors to:
- construct a first partial service instance, the first partial service instance based on configuration information received from a first network device, the configuration information associated with a service executing on the first network device;
- construct a second partial service instance, the second partial service instance based on configuration information received from a second network device, the configuration information associated with the same service executing on the second network device;
- merge the first partial service instance and the second partial service instance to form a merged partial service instance;
- and
- promote the merged partial service instance as a service instance.
A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium encoded with instructions that, when executed, cause one or more processors of a computing device to:
- construct a first partial service instance, the first partial service instance based on configuration information received from a first network device, the configuration information associated with a service executing on the first network device;
- construct a second partial service instance, the second partial service instance based on configuration information received from a second network device, the configuration information associated with the same service executing on the second network device;
- merge the first partial service instance and the second partial service instance to form a merged partial service instance;
- and
- promote the merged partial service instance as a service instance.
