Methods, systems, and media for managing output of an HDMI source

A system for controlling output of HDMI sources, the system comprising:

• a hardware processor that:
• monitors signals on a consumer electronic control bus for messages from one or more HDMI sources;
• determines that a message over the consumer electronic control bus indicates a status of an HDMI source;
• sets a state associated with the HDMI source based on the message;
• and
• determines whether to output media content from the HDMI source based on the state associated with the HDMI source.

A non-transitory computer-readable medium containing computer executable instructions that, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to perform a method for controlling output of HDMI sources, the method comprising:

• monitoring signals on a consumer electronic control bus for messages from one or more HDMI sources;
• determining that a message over the consumer electronic control bus indicates a status of an HDMI source;
• setting a state associated with the HDMI source based on the message;
• and
• determining whether to output media content from the HDMI source based on the state associated with the HDMI source.
