Abstract
A vehicle monitoring system can include a detection system having a camera, radar, and lidar. The vehicle monitoring system can detect a vehicle, generate numerical position data indicative of a first serpentine path of the vehicle as the vehicle drives on a road, numerically analyze the first numerical position data, and in response, take actions to protect lives.
Claims25
A vehicle monitoring system comprising:
- a first detection system configured to be located remotely relative to a first vehicle and having at least one of a first camera, a first radar, and a first lidar, wherein the first detection system is configured to use at least one of the first camera, the first radar, and the first lidar to detect a first serpentine path of the first vehicle as the first vehicle travels along a first road on a first day;
- and
- a computer system having first program instructions configured to numerically analyze first data indicative of the first serpentine path from at least one of the first camera, the first radar, and the first lidar to generate a first veering history associated with the first vehicle,
- wherein the first detection system comprises at least one of the first radar and the first lidar configured to detect a speed of the first vehicle on a second day, and the first program instructions are configured to determine a first veering threshold for the first vehicle at least partially based on the first veering history and the speed.

A vehicle monitoring system comprising:
- a first detection system configured to be located remotely relative to a first vehicle and having at least one of a first camera, a first radar, and a first lidar, wherein the first detection system is configured to use at least one of the first camera, the first radar, and the first lidar to detect a first serpentine path of the first vehicle as the first vehicle travels along a first road;
- and
- a computer system having first program instructions configured to numerically analyze first data indicative of the first serpentine path from at least one of the first camera, the first radar, and the first lidar to generate a first veering history associated with the first vehicle,
- wherein the first program instructions are configured to update the first veering history at least partially based on the first program instructions comparing the first serpentine path to at least a second serpentine path of a second vehicle along the first road and a third serpentine path of a third vehicle along the first road such that the first veering history is at least partially based on how the first vehicle veers on the first road relative to how the second vehicle and the third vehicle veer on the first road.

A vehicle monitoring system comprising:
- a first detection system configured to be located remotely relative to a first vehicle and having at least one of a first camera, a first radar, and a first lidar, wherein the first detection system is configured to use at least one of the first camera, the first radar, and the first lidar to detect a first serpentine path of the first vehicle as the first vehicle travels along a first road on a first day;
- and
- a computer system having first program instructions configured to numerically analyze first data indicative of the first serpentine path from at least one of the first camera, the first radar, and the first lidar to generate a first veering history associated with the first vehicle,
- wherein the first program instructions are configured to determine a first veering threshold for the first vehicle at least partially based on the first veering history and at least partially based on comparing the first serpentine path to at least a second serpentine path of a second vehicle along the first road and a third serpentine path of a third vehicle along the first road,
- wherein the vehicle monitoring system comprises a communication system and second program instructions configured to cause the communication system to send a first communication in response to the vehicle monitoring system detecting, on a second day, a fourth serpentine path of the first vehicle that exceeds the first veering threshold.

A vehicle monitoring system comprising:
- a first detection system configured to be located remotely relative to a first vehicle and having at least one of a first camera, a first radar, and a first lidar, wherein the first detection system is configured to use at least one of the first camera, the first radar, and the first lidar to detect a first serpentine path of the first vehicle as the first vehicle travels along a first road on a first day;
- and
- a computer system having first program instructions configured to numerically analyze first data indicative of the first serpentine path from at least one of the first camera, the first radar, and the first lidar to generate a baseline veering profile specific to the first vehicle,
- wherein the vehicle monitoring system comprises an image analysis system, the first detection system comprises a camera system having the first camera, and the first program instructions are configured to cause the camera system to take at least one picture of the first vehicle and are configured to cause the image analysis system to analyze the at least one picture to determine first identifying data and at least one identifying trait,
- wherein the first program instructions are configured to assign the baseline veering profile to the first vehicle in response to determining that the first identifying data is indicative of the first vehicle and the first program instructions are configured to assign the baseline veering profile to a driver of the first vehicle in response to determining that the at least one identifying trait is indicative of the driver.
