Abstract
Provided herein are methods and assays for isolating and culturing seborrheic keratosis cells ex vivo. Also provided herein are screening assays using cultured seborrheic keratosis cells and methods for treating seborrheic keratosis in a subject.

A method for inducing apoptosis in a seborrheic keratosis cell, the method comprising contacting a seborrheic keratosis cell with a composition comprising an effective amount of an ATP-competitive Akt inhibitor, thereby inducing apoptosis in the cell.
A method for treating a seborrheic keratosis in a subject, the method comprising administering a composition comprising a therapeutically effective amount of an ATP-competitive Akt inhibitor to a subject having seborrheic keratosis.
