Abstract
The present disclosure provides an electronic device including a main controller and a communication controller configured to communicate with the main controller and a device through a predetermined physical communication interface based on a predetermined communication standard. The communication controller instructs power-off of the predetermined physical communication interface and the device when an event which causes transition to a power saving state occurs in the main controller, and determines whether the predetermined physical communication interface is to be returned from the power saving state without power-on of the device or with power-on of the device when an event which causes return from the power saving state occurs in the main controller.
Claims14
An electronic device capable of shifting from a normal power state into a plurality of power saving states, comprising:
- a storage device;
- a first controller including at least one processor and at least one memory;
- and
- a second controller configured to communicate with the first controller and the storage device through a predetermined physical communication interface based on a predetermined communication standard, the second controller including at least one processor and at least one memory,
- wherein, in accordance with shifting of the electronic device into any one of the plurality of power saving states, the first controller causes the second controller to shift into a power saving mode corresponding to the power saving state into which the electronic device shifts, and the second controller having shifted into the power saving mode causes the storage device to shift into a mode of turning power of the storage device off, wherein the mode of turning the power of the storage device off is a power mode of turning the power of the storage device on in a case where the second controller receives a predetermined command and not turning the power of the storage device on in a case where the second controller does not receive the predetermined command, and
- in accordance with returning of the electronic device from the one of the plurality of power saving states, the first controller causes the second controller to return from the power saving mode, and the second controller, having returned, does not turn the power of the storage device on in a case where the second controller does not receive the predetermined command.
A method for controlling an electronic device, the electronic device including a storage device, a first controller and a second controller, the second controller configured to communicate with the first controller and the storage device through a predetermined physical communication interface based on a predetermined communication standard, and the electronic device capable of shifting from a normal power state into a plurality of power saving states, the method comprising:
- the first controller, in accordance with shifting of the electronic device into any one of the plurality of power saving states, causing the second controller to shift into a power saving mode corresponding to the power saving state into which the electronic device shifts;
- the second controller, having shifted into the power saving mode, causing the storage device to shift into a mode of turning power of the storage device off, wherein the mode of turning the power of the storage device off is a power mode of turning the power of the storage device on in a case where the second controller receives a predetermined command and not turning the power of the storage device on in a case wehre the second controller doew not receive the predetermined command;
- in accordance with returning of the electronic device from the one of the plurality of power saving states, the first controller causing the second controller to return from the power saving mode;
- and
- the second controller, having returned, not turning the power of the storage device on in a case where the second controller does not receive the predetermined command.
