Abstract
A series of benzosuberene analogues demonstrate effective inhibition of tubulin polymerization, cytotoxicity against human cancer cell lines, and vascular disruption in tumors.

A compound of formula:
- or a pharmacologically acceptable salt thereof, wherein
- R is CH3, (CH2)3CH3, O(CH2)2O(CH2)2OCH3, O(CH2)2OH, COOEt, CH2OH, CN, or CHO,
- n is 0 or 1, and wherein R1, R2, and R3 are selected from one of the following combinations:
- (a) Ri is CH3, R2 is Br, and R3 is H, (b) R1 is OH, R2 is Br, and R3 is H, and (c) R1 is OCH3, R2 is H, and R3 is OH.

- R4 is H, OH, or (═O), and
