Abstract
The subject matter of the invention relates to therapy wraps for the application of compression and/or thermal therapy to a patient. The wraps are formed of at least two layers of material which are sealed together to form at least one cavity between them. The wraps may be used in conjunction with a therapy machine which fills the cavity or cavities of the wraps with fluid such as a gas and/or a liquid. The unique shapes of the wraps are particularly suitable for providing therapy to the human body. The shapes permit the manipulation of the wraps around various portions of the human body such as the shoulder, back and foot.
Claims20
A therapy wrap comprising:
- a first layer having a size and shape and a second layer of substantially equal size and shape sealed together along a perimeter seal that defines a shape of the therapy wrap;
- wherein the therapy wrap comprises a generally rectangular main body having a top, a bottom, a left side and a right side;
- wherein the left side includes a left flap that extends from a lower half of the left side such that the perimeter seal extends down from the top of the therapy wrap to approximately a midpoint of the left side, then angles out and extends to form a left flap top edge, then angles down and extends to form a left flap side edge, then angles in and extends to connect to the bottom;
- wherein, connected to the right side is an elongated arm that extends from a lower half of the right side such that the perimeter seal extends down from the top of the therapy wrap to approximately a midpoint of the right side, then angles out and extends to form an elongated arm top edge, then angles down and extends to form an elongated arm distal edge, then angles in and extends to connect to the bottom;
- wherein the elongate arm top edge has a length and that length is the distance of a straight line formed between the point at which the perimeter seal of the right side angles out to form the elongated arm top edge and the point at which the perimeter seal angles down to form the elongated arm distal edge;
- wherein left flap top edge has a length and that length is the distance of a straight line formed between the point at which the perimeter seal of the left side angles out to form the left flap top edge and the point at which the perimeter seal angles down to form the left flap side edge;
- and
- wherein the length of the elongated arm top edge is greater than the length of the left flap top edge.
A therapy wrap comprising:
- a first layer having a size and shape and a second layer of substantially equal size and shape sealed together along a perimeter seal that defines a shape of the therapy wrap;
- wherein the therapy wrap comprises a main body having a top, a bottom, a left side and a right side;
- the left side includes a left flap that extends from a lower half of the left side such that the perimeter seal extends down from the top of the therapy wrap to approximately a midpoint of the left side, then angles out and extends to form a left flap top edge, then angles down and extends to form a left flap side edge, then angles in and extends to connect to the bottom;
- the right side includes a right flap that extends from a lower half of the right side such that the perimeter seal extends down from the top of the therapy wrap to approximately a midpoint of the right side, then angles out and extends to form a right flap top edge such that the main body, including the left flap of the left side and the right flap of the right side, is substantially symmetrical about a first centerline axis but not symmetrical about a second centerline axis that is perpendicular to the first centerline axis;
- and
- said therapy wrap further including an elongated arm that is connected to the right flap of the main body and extends from the right flap such that the perimeter seal extends along the right flap top edge and then extends out from the right flap to form an elongated arm top edge, then angles down and extends to form an elongated arm distal edge, then angles in and extends to connect to the right flap.
A therapy wrap comprising:
- a first layer having a size and shape and a second layer of substantially equal size and shape sealed together along a perimeter seal that defines a shape of the therapy wrap;
- wherein the therapy wrap comprises a generally rectangular main body having a top, a bottom, a left side and a right side;
- wherein, connected to the right side is an elongated arm that extends from a lower half of the right side such that the perimeter seal extends down from the top of the therapy wrap to approximately a midpoint of the right side, then angles out and extends to form an elongated arm top edge, then angles down and extends to form an elongated arm distal edge, then angles in and extends to form an elongated arm bottom edge and then connects to the bottom;
- wherein the perimeter seal extends along the left side and defines a perimeter length of the left side;
- wherein the perimeter seal extends along the right side, including along the elongated arm top edge, the elongated arm distal edge, and the elongated arm bottom edge and defines a perimeter length of the right side and elongated arm,
- and wherein the perimeter length of the right side and elongated arm is greater than the perimeter length of the left side.
