Abstract
Dosage forms, drug delivery systems, and methods related to sustained release of dextromethorphan or improved therapeutic effects are disclosed. Typically, bupropion or a related compound is orally administered to a human being to be treated with, or being treated with, dextromethorphan.
Claims28
A method of improving the efficacy of bupropion in treating depression, comprising:
- orally administering about 90 mg to about 125 mg of a bupropion in combination with about 40 mg to about 70 mg of a dextromethorphan, once a day or twice a day for at least 14 days, to a human being suffering from depression, wherein orally administering the bupropion in combination with the dextromethorphan is more effective in treating depression than orally administering the same dosage regimen of the bupropion without the dextromethorphan.
A method of treating treatment-resistant depression comprising:
- orally administering a dextromethorphan-bupropion combination once a day or twice a day for at least about two weeks to a human being suffering from depression, wherein the human being is selected for having treatment-resistant depression;
- and
- wherein the dextromethorphan-bupropion combination comprises about 40 mg to about 70 mg of a dextromethorphan and about 100 mg to about 140 mg of a bupropion.
