## Abstract

In one embodiment, described herein is a method comprising receiving, by a mobile device comprising a processor, instruction data representative of an instruction to select a provisional channel quality indicator from a network device of a wireless network based on aperiodic channel quality data associated with a sub-band, wherein the instruction data is based on a configured bandwidth part associated with a communication between the network device and the mobile device, and wherein a channel quality indicator comprises a full resolution associated with the sub-band. The method also comprises in response to the receiving, selecting by the mobile device, the provisional channel quality indicator based on the instruction data. Furthermore, in response to the selecting, the method can comprise facilitating, by the mobile device, sending the channel quality indicator to the network device in accordance with a full resolution instruction associated with the full resolution.

The method of claim 1, wherein the instruction data is based on a number of channel state information reference signal ports of associated with the network device.

### Claim 5 (depends on 4)

The method of claim 4, wherein a differential offset value increases as the number of channel state information reference signal ports increase.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the instruction data is based on sub-band channel quality data representative of a previous sub-band channel quality between the mobile device and the network device.

### Claim 7 (depends on 6)

The method of claim 6, wherein a differential offset value decreases based on the previous sub-band channel quality between the mobile device and the network device.

### Claim 8

A network device, comprising:
a processor; and
a memory that stores executable instructions that, when executed by the processor, facilitate performance of operations, comprising:
based on a condition associated with channel quality data of a sub-band of a wireless network being determined to have been satisfied, selecting a differential offset value representative of a differential offset;
sending the differential offset value to a mobile device of the wireless network, wherein the sending comprises sending an identification of the sub-band in response to a channel quality indicator value being determined to have traversed a threshold value; and
in response to the sending the differential offset value to the mobile device, receiving data from the mobile device via a channel between the mobile device and the network device wherein the data comprises a defined radio resource control offset value.
