Abstract
A communication method and system for converging a 5th-Generation (5G) communication system and for supporting higher data rates beyond a 4th-Generation (4G) system with a technology for Internet of Things (IoT) may be applied to intelligent services based on the 5G communication technology and the IoT-related technology, such as smart home, smart building, smart city, smart car, connected car, health care, digital education, smart retail, security and safety services. An apparatus and method are provided for transmitting/receiving a paging message in a next generation communication system.
Claims20
A method performed by a terminal in a wireless communication system, the method comprising:
- determining a paging occasion (PO) including a set of physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) monitoring occasions for paging, wherein a number of the PDCCH monitoring occasions of the PO equals a number of synchronization signal blocks (SSBs) transmitted from a base station, and one PDCCH monitoring occasion of the PO corresponds to one synchronization signal block (SSB) transmitted from the base station;
- receiving downlink control information (DCI) for paging by monitoring the PO;
- and
- receiving a paging message based on the DCI for paging,
- wherein the paging message is repeated in the PO with different transmission beams.
A method performed by a base station in a wireless communication system, the method comprising:
- transmitting, to a terminal, downlink control information (DCI) for paging in a paging occasion (PO) including a set of physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) monitoring occasions for paging, wherein a number of the PDCCH monitoring occasions of the PO equals a number of synchronization signal blocks (SSBs) transmitted to the terminal, and one PDCCH monitoring occasion of the PO corresponds to one synchronization signal block (SSB) transmitted to the terminal;
- and
- transmitting, to the terminal, a paging message based on the DCI for paging,
- wherein the paging message is repeated in the PO with different transmission beams.
A terminal in a wireless communication system, the terminal comprising:
- a transceiver configured to transmit and receive a signal;
- and
- a controller configured to:
- determine a paging occasion (PO) including a set of physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) monitoring occasions for paging, wherein a number of the PDCCH monitoring occasions of the PO equals a number of synchronization signal blocks (SSBs) transmitted from a base station, and one PDCCH monitoring occasion of the PO corresponds to one synchronization signal block (SSB) transmitted from the base station,
- receive downlink control information (DCI) for paging by monitoring the PO, and
- receive a paging message based on the DCI for paging,
- wherein the paging message is repeated in the PO with different transmission beams.
A base station in a wireless communication system, the base station comprising:
- a transceiver configured to transmit and receive a signal;
- and
- a controller configured to:
- transmit, to a terminal, downlink control information (DCI) for paging in a paging occasion (PO) including a set of physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) monitoring occasions for paging, wherein a number of the PDCCH monitoring occasions of the PO equals a number of synchronization signal blocks (SSBs) transmitted to the terminal, and one PDCCH monitoring occasion of the PO corresponds to one synchronization signal block (SSB) transmitted to the terminal, and
- transmit, to the terminal, a paging message based on the DCI for paging,
- wherein the paging message is repeated in the PO with different transmission beams.
