Establishing a voice authentication credential

A method for using an IVR system configured to create voice authentication credentials, the method comprising:

• receiving, over a network by a computing system, authentication data from a mobile device;
• authenticating, by the computing system and based on the authentication data, a user operating the mobile device, wherein authenticating the user based on the authentication data does not authenticate the user to create a voiceprint using the IVR system;
• outputting, over the network by the computing system and to the mobile device, instructions for communicating with the IVR system, wherein the instructions include a first passcode;
• after outputting the instructions, receiving, by the computing system from the IVR system, information indicating that the mobile device has contacted the IVR system, wherein the information includes a second passcode that is received by the IVR system from the mobile device and that is derived from the first passcode;
• evaluating, by the computing system, the second passcode to determine whether to enable the user to create a voiceprint using the IVR system;
• communicating, by the computing system, with the IVR system to enable the user to create a voiceprint using the IVR system;
• receiving, from the IVR system and by the computing system, a voiceprint created by the user of the mobile device;
• and
• storing, by the computing system, the voiceprint as an authentication credential for the user of the mobile device.

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium comprising instructions that, when executed, configure processing circuitry of a computing system that is capable of communicating with an IVR system to:

• receive, over a network, authentication data from a mobile device;
• authenticate, based on the authentication data, a user operating the mobile device, wherein authenticating the user based on the authentication data does not authenticate the user to create a voiceprint using the IVR system;
• output, over the network and to the mobile device, instructions for communicating with the IVR system, wherein the instructions include a first passcode;
• after outputting the instructions, receive, from the IVR system, information indicating that the mobile device has contacted the IVR system, wherein the information includes a second passcode that is derived from the first passcode and that is received by the IVR system from the mobile device;
• evaluate the second passcode to determine whether to enable the user to create a voiceprint using the IVR system;
• communicate with the IVR system to enable the user to create a voiceprint using the IVR system;
• receive, from the IVR system, a voiceprint created by the user of the mobile device;
• and
• store the voiceprint as an authentication credential for the user of the mobile device.
